A large “image of life” within the type of a felled tree and its hollowed-out trunk has been chosen for London’s first everlasting Aids memorial.
The design, by artist Anya Gallaccio, was commissioned from a shortlist of 5 and can stand on South Crescent, Retailer Road, in Fitzrovia.
It contains a specially-built symbolic tree trunk from which the internal rings have been extracted and displayed standing upright subsequent to it on the road, lined by London airplane timber.
